Völva, er rafrænn leikhússeiður sem miðlar hinum leyndardómsfulla spádómi Völuspár með nýrri gagnvirkri tækni. Leikkonan, holdgervingur Völvunnar, stjórnar framvindunni í gegnum íklæðanlegan rafmiðil sem er galdratæki Völvunnar. Völva er framsækið samrunaverk sem leitast við að skapa nýja vídd innan leikhúslandslagsins við endurorta Völuspá Þórarins Eldjárns.
Völuspá telst til Eddukvæða, er geyma kvæðabálka sem upphaflega lifðu í munnmælum þar til á 13. öld, er kvæðin voru skráð. Völuspá er óður um sköpun heimsins og endalok hans í Ragnarökum.
Verkið hlaut þróunarstyrk frá Leikritunarsjóðnum Prologos og Menntamálaráðuneytinu.
Sýningin er samstarfsverkefni Þjóðleikhússins og Pálínu frá Grund.
Sýningin nýtur stuðnings franska sendiráðsins á Íslandi og Reykjavíkurborgar.

Völva - The Prophetess’s Prediction

Völva - The Prophetess’s Prediction is a form of electronic theatrical sorcery, in which the mysterious predictions of the Völuspá are communicated in a new and interactive way. The actress, a manifestation of the Völva (prophetess), controls the action through a wearable electronic medium that is the Völva’s magic device. Völuspá is a progressive play of merging mediums that creates a new dimension within the theatrical landscape. It is based on the traditional Völuspá – Prophecy of the Völva, which has been re-composed by Þórarinn Eldjárn.
Völuspá is a component of the Prose Edda, poems passed on verbally until the 13th century, when they were written down. Völuspá is an ode to the world’s creation, as well as its end in Ragnarök, “the fate of the gods”.
The production received a development grant from the Prologos playwriting fund, as well as a grant from the Ministry of Culture. It is a collaboration between the National Theatre and Pálína from Grund.
